Serves 4 to 6
Boil potatoes until tender, about 20 minutes.
- 2 pounds - Potatoes, peeled
- 1/2 teaspoon - Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon - Freshly ground pepper
- 12 ounces - Cheddar cheese, grated
- 2/3 cup - Heavy cream
- 4 - Garlic cloves, crushed
Drain well & let cool.
Slice potatoes thinly & arrange in a lightly buttered shallow baking dish.
Sprinkle with salt & pepper.
Top with 1/3 of the cheese.
Pour half of the cream over the cheese.
Top with 1/3 of the remaining cheese.
Pour over the remaining cream & top it with the remaining cheese.
Sprinkle garlic evenly over the top.
Bake in a 350° oven until the top is browned & crisp, about 40 minutes.
